Strawberry, lemon, raspberry and papaya masks and scrubs

Fruits juices make wonderful natural toners, astringents and cleansers if used properly. The following recipes for homemade juice masks are great for oily, acne-prone, normal and combination skin.
The acids in juice can make your skin photosensitive to sunlight. Stay out of the sun while wearing these masks (once washed off, it doesn't matter) and avoid using juice on sensitive, wind-burned or sunburned skin.
The acids can sting and dry out the skin even more.
Strawberries can be used as natural astringents. The juice contains a natural exfoliating acid that helps remove dead skin cells. Like most astringents and fruit juices, strawberries are best used on oily, acne-prone and combination skin.
Strawberries are also a natural source of salicylic acid which is found in most over-the-counter acne medicines. This recipe is a good choice for people with acne.
This strawberry and lemon recipe works for two people, so invite a friend, or cut recipe in half for just you. This mask will keep 24-48 hours in a refrigerator.
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 2 egg whites
- 3 tsp honey
- 1 cup strawberries, de-stemmed
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- Optional: 4 drops of your favorite essential oils (see the best essential oils for your skin type)
Put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until there are no clumps and the consistency is smooth. If you don't have a blender, you can mash up the strawberries with a fork and then add the rest of the ingredients, whisking them together.
But a blender works best.
Smooth over face in a circular motion, allowing the sugar to exfoliate skin. Let it dry for 10 minutes, then rinse.
