A year ago I spent the most amazing week in Bermuda. Part of that time was spent at Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa which boasts one of the most exclusive spas in Bermuda.
I enjoyed the Beekeeper No. 5 Honey and Cane Sugar Scrub there, after which I rinsed off in a $100,000 Tag Shower (there are only 2 other spas in the world with this shower), and followed that with an aloe massage. I was in absolute heaven.
After all of this pampering, I was sitting by the spa's reflecting pool when I realized I could create my own scrub mimicking theirs when I got home. All it takes is 3 ingredients (honey, oil and sugar) which you can find in your cupboards. Granted, you won't be using honey harvested at Tucker's Point by Beekeeper No. 5 (which the scrub is named after), but the effect will be similar.
Here's how to do it:
- Warm a jar of honey in the microwave for a few seconds until it becomes runny but not too hot to the touch.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of the honey (eyeball it) into a bowl.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of your favorite oil. You can use coconut oil (warm the jar in a hot bath if it's solid), almond oil or even baby oil.
- Add about a 1/2 cup of sugar. Mix well.
- In the shower, wet your body and turn off the shower.
- Place some of the mixture in your palms and massage in a circular motion all over legs, arms, belly, butt and chest (have your husband do your back). Don't do this while the shower's running or you'll wash off the mixture before you get the full effect.
- Rinse off in the shower.
