Tuesday July 12, 2011 I spent hours going through amazing hairstyle photos looking for my favorites. And here they are in This Summer's 15 Hottest Hairstyles. See which celebrities and their hairstyles made the news this summer and see why some trends are hotter than others. My favorite? This pixie cut as seen on Ashlee Simpson. Simply gorgeous. This time she's rocking a long bob hairstyle, a cut which became popular a few years ago and remains so. And the fans seem to love this new 'do, voting on several Websites that it's their favorite of all her cuts. To honor Jennifer Aniston and her famous hair, I've compiled a new photo gallery of Jennifer Aniston's 20 Most Iconic Hairstyles. See pictures of "The Rachel," Aniston with bangs, her hair in its most natural state, her trademark flat-ironed hair with "bronde" coloring and more. Then weigh in below with your comments. Which of Jennifer Aniston's hairstyles do you love the most? Photo: Jason Merritt // Getty Images Wednesday July 6, 2011 I've always loved the look of a really cool headband or ballerina bands nestled in an updo. Paired with the right outfit, a great headband can make the perfect accessory. As this photo gallery of 16 hairstyles featuring headbands shows, you can wear one for a formal occasion such as prom or a wedding or for a casual day at work or school. You can get headbands at drugstores, department stores and even high-end boutiques. You can even make your own out of gorgeous antique brooches if you're crafty and have a fantastic glue gun. Check out this gallery, first, for inspiration. Personally, I love this look the most with curly hair. Photo: Sandra Bullock by Evan Agostini, Getty Images Tuesday July 5, 2011 It's summer and I'm at the beach in the Hamptons where the sand sticks to my sunblock-sprayed legs like flour to a milk-and-egg-soaked chicken. So how to get the sand off of you and your loved ones (babies and diapers, ack!)? Here are a few simple tricks that work. - Pack talcum powder in your beach bag (Burt's Bees Dusting Powder smells -- and works -- great) and sprinkle everywhere sand hides, using a towel to wipe off the sand and powder. You'll find talcum powder makes the sand sweep right off the skin. This method works incredibly well with diapers and babies, too.
- My favorite design blog, Apartment Therapy, has a post today on keeping sand out of the house. Make a pouch out of flannel and fill it with corn starch, tie the top and then use the pouch to wipe off sand. Corn starch, like talcum powder, quickly whisks away sand.
- To get sand off your face, pat talcum powder on your forehead and brush it downward to cheeks, nose and chin. Sand will slide right off.
- To get sand out of hair, sprinkle cornstarch or baby powder on your crown and roots and massage it in, then turn head upside down and shake.
Baby powder is genius. I use it to soak up oils on the days I don't wash my hair, I use it to texturize my hair when I want more body and it works brilliantly after a haircut or trim to whisk away the cut hair that sticks to skin. Photo of baby on beach by Uriel Sinai/Getty Images |
