There are so many amazing nail options for fall that I can't pick my favorite. Deep down, I love Shellac because it doesn't chip or peel and I tend to be hard on my nails but the problem is there aren't many great colors yet available. If it ever comes in my signature color (Haze by RGB, check it out), I will commit to Shellac. I love this newsprint mani, too, but I'm too lazy to do my own nails. Metallics are hot right now, but the trend is just not me.
In summer, I tend to go lighter on my nails because it looks so great with a tan, but in fall, dark is always chic. You can have fun with colors, like Katherine Powers of "WhoWhatWear.com" did when she painted her nails a bright yellow (see them here). You've got to check out this gorgeous blue from Rescue Beauty Lounge. Swoon! Short, black or deep blue nails remain popular. I know this because trend-setter Alexa Chung's go-to nail polish is Black Satin by Chanel (prefer Chanel's Blue Satin).
