If the thought of formulating red hair color makes you weary, fear no more with this list of tried and true red hair color formulas.

1. Copper Red

James Edick, Arrojo Studio's Color Director and a Wella Top Stylist, shares his easy formula. 

Existing level: 6

Formula 1: Wella Koleston Perfect 3 parts 7/34 + 1 part 7/ + 20-volume developer. Apply to roots. 

Formula 2: Wella Koleston Perfect 7/34 + 30-volume developer. Apply to lengths and ends.

2. Rihanna Red

Adrienne Rogers, owner of Hush Salon Philadelphia as well as  a guest colorist at Cutler Salon in New York City, shares this fiery formula.

Existing level: 5 (no gray!) 

Formula 1: Redken Color Fusion 20 grams 4R + 20 volume developer. Apply O inch out from the scalp.

Formula 2: Redken Color Fusion 40 grams 5R + 5 grams High Fusion R + 30 volume developer. Apply to remaining hair. Process and remove.

Formula 3: Shades EQ 06R + developer. Glaze all strands.

3. Chestnut Red

Beth Minardi, a prolific hair colorist, salon owner and writer brings us this versatile formula

Existing level: 4-6

Formula 1: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome 1 oz. RB4 + 1 oz. RR + 4oz. developer.

Formula 2: Joico Vero K-PAK Color 1 oz. 7RC + 1 oz. 20-volume developer. Apply Formula A to nape area. Alternate Formula A (lowlights) and Formula B (highlights) throughout the remainder of the hair. Process for 30 minutes at room temperature.

4. Strawberry Blonde

This stawberry blonde hue comes courtesy of Nancy Braun, a celebrity hair colorist and L'oreal Professional portfolio artist and educator.

Existing level: 6-7

Formula 1: L’Oréal Professionnel Majirel equal parts 9 + 8.3 + 20-volume developer. Apply to all strands, shampoo and towel dry.

Formula 2: L’Oréal Professionnel Diacolor equal parts Light Golden Blonde + Golden Copper. Tone all strands.
